Michael Monar’s passion for photography took flight
during his freshman year at Indiana University Bloomington while
studying English on a full ride scholarship. Lured by a friend in
the Journalism department, Michael began shooting for what was then
the top student publication in the nation, the Indiana Daily Student
newspaper. After being voted, “Best Photographer” of the year, he
made the move to I.U.’s prestigious B.F.A. photography program.
After his first year in the B.F.A., Michael was chosen for an
internship with internationally acclaimed photographer David LaChapelle.
Monar moved to New York City for the summer and subsequently was
hired on as an assistant to LaChapelle. Under the auspices of master
photographer LaChapelle and contact with such notable artists as
Annie Liebovitz, his commercial photography business flourished.
Monar’s fine art background and big studio technical skills provide
for a distinctly desirable photographic style. He has been commissioned
worldwide for wedding photography, corporate photography, event
photography and editorial work. His client roster includes Newsweek,
Chicago Magazine, Architectural Digest, Boss Modeling Agency, Ernst
and Young, and Ducati Motorcycles. |
